THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME

Mill & Whistle honors Wilmington’s industrious past. “Mill” nods to Mill Hollow, where the town was relocated in 1833 to be closer to its sawmill, and “Whistle” celebrates the arrival of the Hoosac Tunnel and Wilmington Railroad, affectionately known as the “Hoot, Toot & Whistle”, in 1891, which put Wilmington on the map. 

We carry that spirit forward—rooted in history, but building a place for connection, opportunity, and local pride.
